At the heart of this success is Istanbul, which has become a global brand thanks to its superior medical infrastructure and extensive experience.

Turkey possesses not only a high patient volume but also highly specialized surgeons and advanced technology centers. Modern techniques such as FUE and DHI have been successfully implemented for many years, yielding natural and permanent results. Many clinics hold international accreditations and provide services that meet global healthcare standards.

The First 10 Days After Hair Transplant: What to Expect and What to Avoid

Once your hair transplant treatment is complete, you will continue to have access to our post-operative care program and professional consultancy. It may take 2–3 months for your new follicles to settle properly and for new hair to begin growing naturally. Your new hair may initially appear coarse or uneven, but you will soon achieve the fresh look you deserve. Most patients experience successful natural growth 10 months after the procedure. Please remember that results and recovery times vary for every patient.

By the 10th day after the transplant, the healing process has progressed significantly. Redness and swelling will have decreased substantially, and scabs will begin to shed naturally. At this stage, most patients feel slight itching or dryness in the recipient area. While the hair follicles are starting to take root, the new grafts are still delicate.

What to Expect in 10 Days?

  • Most scabs will have fallen off on their own.

  • Redness and swelling will be significantly reduced.

  • Itching may still persist.

  • The transplanted area may look slightly pink but will blend with your skin tone over time.

  • Some shedding (known as shock loss) may begin; this is a completely normal part of the process.

Activities You Can Resume After 10 Days:

  • Gentle Hair Washing: You can start washing your hair more normally, but avoid vigorous rubbing.

  • Light Physical Activity: Walking and light exercises are fine, but avoid anything overly strenuous.

  • Going Outdoors: You can go out, but wear a loose-fitting hat to protect your scalp from the sun.

  • Returning to Work: Most patients feel comfortable returning to work by this stage if they haven't already.

What to Avoid During the First 10 Days:

  • Scratching or Rubbing: Even if it itches, avoid touching the transplanted area.

  • Direct Sunlight: Protect your scalp from UV rays to prevent damage and discoloration.

  • Swimming: Stay away from pools, seawater, and hot tubs to prevent infections.

  • Heavy Exercise: Avoid intense workouts that cause excessive sweating, as this can irritate the scalp.

  • Alcohol and Smoking: These can hinder the healing process and should be avoided.

The Long-Term Recovery Timeline

1–3 Months After: You may feel itching on your scalp. Pimples or oiliness in the forehead area are completely natural. This new growth phase lasts about three months. The emerging hairs will be thin at first but will thicken as they grow.

4–6 Months After: The vast majority of the hair is now in the growth phase. New hairs are typically 2–3 cm long and will continue to get thicker.

8–10 Months After: Patients will notice significant hair growth. The hair is much thicker and the appearance is greatly improved compared to previous months.

1 Year After: By the end of the first year, the hair’s adaptation is complete, marking the final successful stage of your transformation.
